The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, 11 March, 2025 arraigned a 27-year-old man, Somtochukwu Ofobuike, before an Ojo Magistrate Court in Lagos presided over by Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni for allegedly stealing 19 trailer springs worth N3.4 million.
Ofobuike is facing a one-count charge of stealing but pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, the alleged theft took place on Tuesday, 26 February, 2025 at the Aspamda area of the Trade Fair Complex, where Ofobuike reportedly stole the springs belonging to Obinna Nwobodo.
Uche, who said police investigations led to his arrest, added that the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until 7 April, 2025 for further hearing.
