The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for evolving new leadership and management for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited [NNPCL]

In a press statement issued on Thursday, 3 April, 2025, and signed by the National Coordinator of the Group, Alh. Abdullahi Ibrahim and the National Secretary, Dr. Nasir Balogun, the Group described the appointment of an outstanding Energy Expert Engineer, Bashir Bayo Ojulari as new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer as well-deserved and appropriate.

The Group charged the new leadership to hit the ground running by evolving new strategies and policies that would make the citizens of Nigeria enjoy the benefit of being an oil-producing Country by refurbishing promptly the rest moribund NNPCL Refineries and put them into operations promptly so as to get oil and fuel prices to reduce drastically in-order to reduce the economic hardship facing the people.

It also called for smashing all the cartels that have turned our oil production into misery instead of blessing; adding for Nation whose 80% economy is dependable on oil, allowing corruption to fester would surely create serious hardship for the poor citizens and the masses..

Meanwhile, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria also called on state governments in Nigeria to read the Riot Act to all officially recognised Vigilante Groups operating in their states to shun overzealousness, drunkenness, brigandage and drug-addiction in the course of their operations.

Reacting to the brutal killing incident of last week at Uromi Edo State, the Group condemned the devilish act and described it as barbaric and sinful; which could have arisen out of drug-addiction and influence of alcohol as no normal human-beings could have wrecked such brutality on fellow-citizens.

The Group called for immediate parade of the arrested criminals that committed the act and called for their immediate  prosecution without further delay; pointing out that any delay in doing this would give impression of attempt to cover-up the terrible crime which could lead reprisal sooner or later.

The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria commended Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State for his statesman-like approach to the issue calling on the people of Edo State to celebrate the new leadership in the State for the giant-strides of the Governor within a short time of his  assumption of office; pointing out that Edo State Governor has shown tremendous interest in serving the people creditably.
