The Federal Government has officially reopened the Independence Bridge located on Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, led the reopening and kept his promise to be the first person to drive across the bridge after it was reopened to the public.
The reopening comes two days after Umahi directed that the bridge be opened due to heavy traffic congestion around the Ikoyi area.
Earlier, the Federal Government had announced the closure of the Marina-bound side of the bridge for major repairs and maintenance, stating it would remain shut until the end of May 2025.
