Tragedy occurred over the weekend in Akure, Ondo State capital as three persons lost their lives in a fatal accident involving a commercial tricycle and a truck.
The tragic incident occurred at the Itagbanja axis of Oke-Aro, along Idanre Road in Akure South Local Government Area of the state. Among the victims were a couple whose identities had yet to be confirmed at the time of filing this report.

Eyewitnesses attributed the accident to reckless driving by both the tricyclist and the truck driver. Two victims died on the spot, while the third succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital.
The aftermath of the crash sparked tension in the area, as enraged youths and residents attempted to attack the truck driver. However, he fled the scene but later surrendered himself at the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Oke-Aro.
Upon learning of his whereabouts, the aggrieved crowd marched to the station, pelting it with stones and demanding justice for the deceased.
The Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer,Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the sad development , saying that the corpses of the victims have been deposited in a mortuary, while the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
