For Honourable (Dr) Oluyinka Ogundimu, living, interacting and identifying with the people at the grassroots have been his pastime.
And it is no gain saying to note that this has made him arguably the most popular politician in Agege Federal Constituency. He dwells among his people. He knows their feelings, he knows what they want. He eats and drinks with them. Perhaps, maybe apart from Dr Kayode Opeifa and Dr Samuel Babatunde Adejare, Ogundimu is the only Agege politician who commands cult followings among the people.
His love for his place of birth is second to none. His record as a three-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly in terms of empowering his people especially through employment is second to none.
As a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ogundimu moved the motion for the construction of the Pen Cinema bridge which became a reality via its inclusion in the budget of the state.
He is perhaps the only politician in Agege who continues to host and fetes members of his group even when he is out of office.
Go to Vetland Secondary School, you will see him every Saturday playing football with both the young and the old mixing freely with them without any shoulder-padding attitude.
Today, Ogundimu has a new assignment to undertake. The need to take Orile Agege Local Council Development Area to a greater height and improve its rating among councils in the state.
It’s obvious that the incumbent Chairman of the Council, Johnson Sunday Babatunde has performed extremely well. It’s no mean feat being called and addressed as Mr Project. Babatunde has simply earned the title through his tireless efforts at improving the infrastructure of the LCDA.
As Babatunde is taking a graceful exit after completing his two-term of four years each, the standard should not diminished. The performance must improved. The results must be positive.
Who else can do this except a man who is a grassroots dweller. A man who knows the needs of his people, who lives among them, eats and wines with them.
That man is Dr Oluyinka Ogundimu.
Ogundimu is well crafted in the arts of politics, he is really a man with the heart of gold, a man imbued with the ability to make Orile Agege LCDA to the top.
Here comes Dr Oluyinka Ogundimu, the man many love to call ‘Olugbala’.
