It is with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility that I, Bukola Nurudeen Sofidiya (Gidado), announce my intention to contest for the esteemed position of Chairman in the forthcoming Lagos Local Government election. My aspiration stems from my unwavering passion for the development of our beloved community, Agege, and my dedication to building upon the legacies of our past leaders.
As an experienced administrator, I am determined to utilize my expertise and knowledge to drive transformative growth and progress within our cherished Agege Local Government.
Born and raised in this community, I am keenly aware of its unique challenges and opportunities. My vision is to cultivate a brighter future for all Agege citizens, where everyone has equal access to quality education, healthcare, and economic prospects.
My 7-point cardinal agenda serves as the foundation of my campaign, carefully crafted to address our community’s most pressing needs.
These are:
Security: Ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens is of utmost importance. As Chairman, I will collaborate closely with security agencies and community-based initiatives to guarantee that our community remains secure and peaceful. This involves investing in modern security infrastructure, bolstering community policing programs, and promoting conflict resolution strategies.
Education: Enhancing the quality of education is a critical focus for my administration. I will strive to upgrade our educational infrastructure, provide equitable access to education, and foster vocational training programs to empower our youth. This entails investing in cutting-edge educational facilities, endorsing teacher training initiatives, and forging partnerships with private sector organizations for vocational training prospects.
Health: The promotion of basic healthcare is pivotal to ensuring our citizens’ well-being. As Chairman, I will work tirelessly to upgrade our healthcare infrastructure, grant access to top-notch healthcare services, and champion healthy living initiatives. This involves investing in state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, supporting healthcare worker training programs, and establishing alliances with private sector organizations for healthcare services.
Youth Empowerment: Unlocking our community’s full potential relies on nurturing our youth. As Chairman, I will endeavor to create opportunities through entrepreneurship training, skills acquisition, sport and job creation initiatives. This necessitates investing in youth development programs, advocating for entrepreneurship training, and forming partnerships with private sector organizations for job opportunities.
Infrastructure Development: Driving growth and progress within our community requires infrastructural improvement. As Chairman, I will strive to modernize our roads and essential infrastructure to fuel economic growth and development. This involves investing in up-to-date infrastructure, supporting public-private partnerships for infrastructure financing, and endorsing community-based initiatives for infrastructure maintenance.
Environmental Protection: Safeguarding the long-term sustainability of our community hinges on effective environmental stewardship. As Chairman, I will strive to promote sustainable environmental practices, efficient waste management, and conservation initiatives to preserve our valuable natural resources. This will entail investing in environmental protection programs, endorsing community-driven initiatives that foster sustainability, and cultivating alliances with private sector organizations to bolster environmental conservation efforts.
Economic Empowerment: This is vital for a thriving community. As Chairman, I will encourage economic empowerment by attracting investments, nurturing local businesses, and generating employment opportunities. This encompasses creating an investment-friendly climate, assisting small businesses, and advocating for public-private partnerships for economic growth.
