A 300-level undergraduate of the University of Port Harcourt, named Cynthia Chukwundah, has been arrested by the operatives of Rivers State Police Command for allegedly setting her lover ablaze at a private residence in Choba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state reports reports thegazellenews.com.
Thegazellenews.com gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday, 6 July, 2025 during a heated argument between the two lovers in their residence, 11b Okoro Street, Choba, Port Harcourt.

It was also later gathered that the scuffle revolves around the pregnancy of the girl which led to the girl allegedly setting the house ablaze.
Thegazellenews.com learnt further that the lover boy, 32 years old Saint Sunny Amadi, from died from injuries he sustained from the incident.
Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Port Harcourt the state capital on Tuesday, 8 July, 2025.
According to Iringe-Koko, the girl, who also suffered some burns from the inferno, is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital under the watch of the police.
She stated further that the girl is still in unstable condition hence the police have not got the full details of the incident from her.
She stated further that the command has launched an investigation into the incident.
