Bauchi State Commissioner of Special Duties and Rural Development, Hon Faruk Mustapha, has been described as the best candidate to succeed incumbent Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as the next Governor of the State in 2027.
This was as a group appealed to the PDP leadership with the support of the state Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to, as a matter of fairness and democratic principles, zone the party’s gubernatorial ticket to Bauchi North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The members of the Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Youths in Politics of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the declaration on Thursday, 4 September 2025, while addressing journalists on the 2027 politics in the State.
Chairman of the group, Comrade Jondes James, stated that Hon Farouq Mustapha, if given the mandate as Governor come 2027, will consolidate on the tremendous democracy dividends so far recorded by Governor Bala Mohammed of the state.
According to him, “We are appealing to His Excellency, our Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed CON, and the Leadership of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party to consider zoning the PDP Governorship ticket to Bauchi North Senatorial, and consider Hon Faruq Mustapha as the befitting candidate, in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice.”
The group called on the people of Bauchi state to support Hon Faruq Mustapha’s candidacy in 2027, to build a brighter future for the state and ensure that the government truly serves the people.
It stated that, “The Christian Youths in Politics Bauchi state chapter, is honoured to announce our wholehearted endorsement of Hon Faruq Mustapha as the candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Governor of Bauchi State comes 2027.”
Flanked by other officials of the group, Jondes James expressed the belief that Hon Faruq Mustapha possesses all the needed leadership skills, vision, aura and integrity to transform Bauchi state and improve the lives of the citizens.
He maintained that Hon. Mustapha has demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges facing Bauchi State and has proposed practical solutions to address them.
The group further stated that, given his quality and experience as an elite politician, banker, two-term member House of Representatives, DG Campaign, Gov. Bala Mohammed’s continuity in 2023 and serving Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development, Faruq Mustapha, will not disappoint the people of the state if voted as governor in 2027.
He further commended Faruq Mustapha’s unique character and high spirit of accommodation cutting across all the existing religious faiths and his commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability, enjoined the people of Bauchi state to support the movement.
“We are confident that he will work tirelessly to ensure that Bauchi state is governed in the best interests of all its citizens”, the Chairman said.
He further said that the group is impressed by Hon Faruq Mustapha’s track record of service to the community and his ability to bring people together to achieve common goals.
“His leadership style is characterised by inclusiveness, empathy, and a willingness to listen, which will be essential in building a government that truly serves the people”, the group noted.
Comrade James said, as Governor, Hon Faruq Mustapha will prioritise the development of our state’s infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economy. He will work to create opportunities for our youth, empower our women, and ensure that our state is a place where everyone can thrive”, they said.
