The Class of 1985 of Idogun High School, Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has paid a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, to congratulate him on his appointment by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the President, Mr. Temijana Micheal Olaniyi, expressed gratitude to God and commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for finding one of their own worthy of service. He described Hon. Ajanaku as a seasoned journalist, “a round peg in a round hole,” whose wealth of experience will drive the governor’s OUR EASE Agenda effectively.

Mr. Olaniyi also brought to the Commissioner’s attention the recent construction of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre by the Idogun Development Association Worldwide for their alma mater, which will serve all schools in the Ireakari axis during WAEC and NECO examinations in line with Federal Government directives.

He explained that the centre has a 200-seat capacity and appealed for the Commissioner’s support and that of the State Government in equipping the facility with computers and appropriate furniture.

Other members of the Class of ’85 used the opportunity to recall fond memories of their school days with Ajanaku. Hon. Ade Funmilayo reminisced about his passion for journalism, noting that he was always seen with a newspaper tucked in his pocket, even as a teenager, and also praised his sporting skills as a “fantastic goalkeeper.”

Mr. John Abitoye highlighted Ajanaku’s brilliance in history, saying his excellence in the subject influenced many of his classmates and showed his early preparedness for leadership. The President of the set, Mr. Temijana, recalled Ajanaku’s natural role as a guardian and counsellor to his peers, while Ms. Nike Busari described him as neat, punctual, and deeply committed to journalism, with full participation in the school’s Press Club. She also recalled his position as Timekeeper Prefect, which underscored his habit of discipline and timeliness.

In an emotional response, Hon. Ajanaku thanked his former classmates for their goodwill messages and the honour of associating with him after decades. He attributed his journey to divine grace, recalling his career in journalism, his service to two Lagos State governors, and his present appointment as Commissioner in Ondo State.

“It is only God who knows the future. I followed my passion, and He has helped me this far,” Ajanaku said, assuring the group of his open door and readiness to support them whenever the need arises, within his capacity.

The visit was rounded off with the presentation of a roll-up banner to Hon. Ajanaku by the group as a token of love and a reminder of his roots.
