The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi Command, Bello .M. Sani, has lauded the retiring Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ishaq Ismail, for his dedication, professionalism, and service to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Sani gave the commendation on Wednesday, 15 October, 2025, in Birnin Kebbi, during a send-forth ceremony held in honour of Ismail, who is retiring after attaining the mandatory 60 years of age and 31 years of active service.
Sani described Ismail as an officer of uncommon integrity and professionalism whose leadership left an indelible mark on the command and the force at large.
“The Kebbi Command deemed it necessary to organise this ceremony in appreciation of the tremendous achievements recorded by the SCID, especially in the area of diligent investigation and prosecution of high-profile cases under the able supervision of DCP Ismail,” the CP said.
He noted that Ismail’s commitment to justice and discipline remained exemplary, urging junior officers to emulate his track record of excellence and fairness.
“As you bow out of the active service of the NFP, your exceptional dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to justice will continue to inspire us.
” Your leadership style, integrity and mentorship will remain a legacy within and beyond the police force,” Sani added.
He congratulated Ismail on his 60th birthday and retirement, praying that Almighty Allah would continue to bless him with good health, wisdom, and peace in retirement.
In his response, Ismail, expressed mixed emotions of joy and nostalgia as he marked his retirement from the service after 31 years.
“ I am happy because, as I look around, I see a galaxy of the crème de la crème of our society — all gathered to celebrate this milestone with me,” he said.
He thanked CP Bello Sani for his fatherly mentorship, CP Ibrahim Musa of Sokoto State Command for his friendship and support, and DCP Zainab Audu Pembi of the Force Intelligence Department for her longstanding camaraderie.
Ismail also acknowledged the presence of key stakeholders in the Kebbi State Criminal Justice System, including the judiciary and the Ministry of Justice, for their cooperation in strengthening justice delivery.
He expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his support to the security sector, especially through the state’s Justice Reform Committee, which he said had enhanced police efficiency and infrastructure.
Ismail commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his reform-driven leadership aimed at restoring professionalism and public confidence in the force.
The retiring DCP thanked his family for their unwavering support throughout his service years.
He also paid tribute to his late parents and colleagues who had passed away, praying for their eternal rest.
