The Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Hon. Jimoh Saliu on Monday scored yet an unprecedented landmark with the presentation of cash token to indigent students sitting for the ongoing General Certificate of Examination (GCE) as transportation fare.
The 80 beneficiaries, drawn from various schools within the LCDA area, were among the 100 students that passed the mock examination conducted at the end of the summer classes tagged ‘Olugbani Summer Classes’, held for the students during the last holidays in August, 2025.
Moving forward, an extra moral classes were also organized for the students to prepare them for the GCE examination, coordinated by brilliant and tested tutors.
The gesture underscores Hon Jimoh Olawale Saliu’s commitment to academic excellence and desire to ensure the progress and greatness of indigent children.
At the brief presentation ceremony held in his office, the Council helmsman charged the beneficiaries to put in their best and ensure they excel in the examination, in order to make the council proud.

Hon. Saliu emphasised that the token is meant to take off the burden of transportation of the students to their various examination centres from their parents.
The event , coordinated by the council’s HOD for Education, Mr. Jinod Olalekan had in attendance the Council Manager, Mr. Badmus Lateef; the Information Officers; Hakeem Awotugase, and tutors of the Olugbani Summer Coaching amongst others.
Earlier in the day, members of the Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Legislative Council, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Adigun Arogundade presented a beautifully well designed clock to Hon. Saliu to celebrate his purposeful leadership and achievements within the first 100 days in office.
Hon. Adigun remarked that the decentralization of the Stakeholders’ Meeting in preparation for the 2026 Budget, held at the seven wards, was an honour on the Councillors.
The Councillor, who represents Ward ‘C’ at the hallow chamber, affirms the cordial relationship that exists between the legislators and the Chairman, stressing that it is rare for a leader to seek the progress of his followers.
Hon. Arogundade asserted that the Council helmsman has refined representation and governance through his leadership style, which accord Councillors regards and respect from the residents.
The day received many dignitaries, loads of gift and well wishers trooping in to praise the chairman for a wonderful 100 day well spent.
