The health walk subsequently took off from the secretariat through Gate Bus Stop and back to the council premises.

At Akinogun Bus Stop, pupils of African Church Primary School, led by their headmistress and teachers, lined up in front of the school gate to welcome the council boss and her team with excitement. They sang and danced joyfully with her and the vice chairman.
During the health and fitness walk, the Council’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Abiola Mobolaji Adeyinka, enlightened residents, motorists, and road users on the council’s ongoing health programmes, which include mammogram tests for women above 40 years, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, breast and cervical cancer screenings, hepatitis B tests, body mass index (BMI) assessments, HIV and dental checks, among others.
The DJ kept the moving crowd entertained and energized during the course of the health walk, with the council boss, vice chairman, and others getting jiggy with and boogieing down to the music blasting from the speakers.
Hon. Akindele, who was in high spirits, sang along to many of the old-school and hip-hop songs played by the DJ during the exercise.
Back at the council premises, where free medical screenings and treatments were provided, expectant mothers received free antenatal packs tagged “Mama’s Kit.” Hon. Akindele urged the beneficiaries to take their antenatal care seriously.
“I feel so great, happy, and fulfilled for how far we have come since the first day of this administration to this 100-day milestone. We have multiple beneficiaries of our free health programme here today, and I’m excited. We’ve not even started yet—this is just a tip of the iceberg,” she promised.
The Council’s MOH, Dr. Adeyinka commended the initiative, noting that the exercise achieved its purpose.
According to her, “the chairman’s goal was to reach 10,000 walking steps, but she successfully achieved 10,664 steps. It is a commendable effort for a workout and for healthy living. The exercise helped improve our stamina, and our cardiac health was also greatly influenced.”
“At first, a lot of people complained of fatigue, but as we proceeded, many were willing to extend the walk. This is a beautiful initiative, and we hope and pray it continues. As we all know, the chairman is passionate about health, and one thing that stands out is her desire to understand the ailments affecting people in her community, regardless of age, sex, or tribe.”
“We considered this and felt there was a need to put this health programme together. It’s a good one. Kudos to our chairman,” said the MOH in praise of Hon. Akindele.
