A Lagos State High Court, Ikeja on Wednesday, 26 November, 2025, sentenced Christian Innocent Daniel to 10 years in prison for unlawfully engaging in sexual intercourse with a seven years old girl.
Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced Innocent to 10 years jail term, following his plea bargain agreement to the amended two count charge of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault, brought against him by the Lagos State Government.
Oshodi thereafter sentenced him to 10 years in prison on two count charge, count one: 7years, Count: 3years which shall run concurrently from March 3, 2022.
According to the prosecution, Innocent sexually assaulted her by sucking her nipple in an uncompleted building at Ashiru Abiodun Street, Ikorodu, Lagos.
He was initially charged on a two-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault when he pleaded not guilty before Justice Rahman Oshodi
However, when he pleaded guilty, those charges were amended to sexual assaults.
The offence is contrary to Section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Cap C.17, Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The offence was reported at Ikorodu, Lagos on February 28, 2022.
The convict, in his plea for mercy, promised to be responsible to the society at large after going through courses at the correctional centre with the dream of becoming Advocate in sexual violence on children.
