As part of activities marking the Jakande’s Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Sports Fiesta Season 4.0, the highly anticipated 5-A-Side Soccer Tournament kicked off in spectacular fashion on Monday, 1 December, 2025, delivering a day of exciting grassroots football.
The Babajide Sanwo-Olu Football Arena, located at Ilupeju Senior Secondary School, Ilupeju, provided a vibrant backdrop as fans, community leaders, and sports enthusiasts gathered to witness the opening fixtures of this community-driven event under the leadership of Hon. Seyi Jakande, the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.
The opening day featured four pulsating matches that showcased skill, resilience, and the passion for local football:
Owodunni FC (C1B) and Kayode FC (C3) played out a dramatic 3-3 draw, thrilling spectators with end-to-end action.
In a nine-goal thriller, Alakara FC (A1) edged past Ojuwoye FC (B2) with a narrow 5-4 victory.
Later in the day, Ilupeju FC (C1A) displayed tactical discipline to secure a 1-0 win over Ilupeju Industrial FC (L).
Olateju FC (C2) capped off the day with a convincing 2-0 triumph against Babalosa FC (B1).
The tournament, which forms a major highlight of Sports Fiesta Season 4.0, promises more exhilarating action in the coming days as teams battle for supremacy and fans rally behind their favourites.
