Nigeria’s female football team superstar, Folashade Ijamilusi, on Thursday, 4 December, 2025, led Springsoccer United Academy, a thriving grassroots football development organisation, to the Lagos State Sports Commission for collaboration to accelerate efforts on talent development development and enhance career advancement of young football in Lagos State, reports thegazellenews.com
Speaking on the visit, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu, that the society needs more selfless athletes like Ijamilusi who is deploying her experience and influence to inspire and provide a steady pathway for budding football talents.

“The noble action perfectly fits into the noted expressions of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the need for deeper strategic collaborations to create more opportunities, especially for the under-deserved, in sports and other areas of human endeavours. So we are deeply grateful for the remarkable endeavours of Folashade Ijamilusi and Springsoccer United Academy for standing in the gap to engender greater leeway for all,” Fatodu said.
Speaking, Ijamilusi commended the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration to improve sports development and growth in the state, noting further that the visit was to explore ways of collaborating with the state government in developing grassroots Soccer through the Sprinsoccer United Academy.
“The Sanwo-Olu administration has invested in sports development and it gladdens my heart at the rate of development of sports in the state. I will also commend Honourable Lekan Fatodu for his purposeful leadership of the state Sports Commission,” she said.
