In a bold step toward improving urban infrastructure, the Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande, on Tuesday, 9 December, 2025, officially commissioned the newly reconstructed roads on Danmegoro and Muibi Streets.
The projects fulfill a major pledge by his administration to enhance inner-city connectivity and living standards.

The roads, previously in poor condition, have been transformed into durable asphalt surfaces with clearly marked lanes to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. This upgrade, executed under the supervision of the council’s engineering team, is expected to reduce travel time, minimize dust pollution, and create a cleaner, more accessible environment for residents and businesses.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Jakande underscored the significance of the project. “Good roads are the lifeblood of thriving communities,” he said. “This is not just about asphalt; it’s about delivering real value to our people. Improved roads mean better access to homes and businesses, reduced vehicle maintenance costs, and an overall uplift in quality of life.”

He assured that the council will continue rehabilitating more inner roads as part of a broader development strategy.
The completion of Danmegoro marks the first phase of this ambitious plan of the corridor, signaling the administration’s commitment to sustained infrastructure development across the LCDA. While Muibi Street has also been delivered, other phases of the inner-road rehabilitation project are currently underway, ensuring that more neighborhoods will soon benefit from improved connectivity and safer roads.
Community members expressed satisfaction with the upgrade, noting its potential to boost economic activity and ease mobility.
The event drew local leaders and jubilant residents, all applauding the administration’s hands-on approach.
Hon. Jakande, however, urged residents to protect the new infrastructure, reaffirming his commitment to sustainable grassroots development.
