The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede-Almaroof has presented a budget of N13.627 billion tagged budget of ‘sustainability’ to the legislative arm of the local government.

The budget of sustainability has 65% capital projects to be executed in the coming year, while recurrent projects will gulp 35% of the budget.

In the budget presented in the presence of the council Vice Chairman, Mrs Islamiyah Modupeola Badmus-Aregbe, party leaders, council management, and people of Oshodi-Isolo at the chambers of the Legislators, Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof disclosed that capital projects will be N8.857 billion, and the recurrent will be N4.769 billion.

The council Boss stated that his administration tagged the budget as that of “sustainability”, because he intends to sustain the achievements recorded so far and build upon them.

According to him, “we deliberately tagged this budget the ‘Budget of Sustainability’, because we intend to sustain our achievements and build upon them. With this budget, we aim to touch the lives of our people, promote businesses, improve our environment, and procure mechanical equipment that will make life more livable for our people”.

The council Boss further posited that the outcome of the recently held stakeholders meeting, where inputs were gotten from all stakeholders, was included in the budget, which invariably captured the developmental aspirations of all interests across the various wards of the local government.

The budget of sustainability, according to Otunba Oloyede-Almaroof, has been reduced to four critical areas of priority, vis-à-vis environmental sustainability, sustainable infrastructure, social and economic development, good governance, and transparency.

The council Boss appealed to residents and business owners in the local government to support the council by paying their rates and taxes for all that are being proposed to be achievable in the new year, stressing that the budget is a roadmap for a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Oshodi-Isolo Local Government.

“This budget is a roadmap for a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Oshodi-Isolo Local Government. I call on all residents, leaders, and partners to join us in delivering these initiatives and building a sustainable future for our local government,” he said.

The council Boss, however, called on the councilors to expedite legislative action and ensure the speedy passage of the Appropriation Bill.

In his response, the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the council, Hon Adeshina Rasheed Obasa commended the council Chairman for the wonderful performance in his first term and enjoined him to continue to deliver on his campaign promises, especially the renewed hope agenda of the President.

In his words, “on behalf of my colleagues, I extend our sincere appreciation to the Executive Chairman and his team for crafting a comprehensive budget that aligns with Oshodi’s aspirations for growth and development. Your resourceful consistency in navigating the economic challenges, while advancing infrastructure is commendable”.

Hon Obasa urged Heads of Departments to cooperate with the Legislative Arm as they scrutinize the appropriation bill, and that the exercise shall be thorough, and it should be treated with every sense of responsibility.

Obasa said, “The people of Oshodi-Isolo expect improved economic resilience, stronger social welfare, enhanced security, and long-lasting infrastructure. Our scrutiny must guarantee that the 2026 budget meets these expectations without compromise.

The budget presentation ceremony was witnessed by several party leaders, including Chief Mrs Badejoko, Elder Salako, Chief Sunday Akinwale, Elder Israel Akiode, the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Hon Saheed Kolawole Animashaun, while the Council Manager, Mrs Iyabo Ogunyemi, led the management staff.

The royal institution was led by the Elewu of Ewu kingdom, Kabiyesi Shakirudeen Adeshina Kuti, with the Baale of Shogunle, High Chief Rafiu Ajisegiri; High Chief Adedayo Thomas who is the Baale of Mafoluku; and Chief Muniru Obidairo, Baale of Shogunle Oke

All seven legislators, led by the leader, Hon Rasheed Obasa, were present at the budget presentation. They are Hon Ajoke Onitolo, Hon Kazeem Abayomi, Hon Abiodun Oduyemi, and Hon Giwa Nurudeen.

Others are Hon Rasheedat Adegboyega Adewusi and Hon Keji Yusuf.
