The immediate past Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Bola Oyebamiji, has emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the next governorship election in Osun State scheduled for Saturday, 8 August, 2026, reports thegazellenews.com
Oyebamiji secured the party’s ticket after being affirmed by 1,660 delegates during the primary election. His nomination was initiated by one of the aspirants, Mr. Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and was seconded by another aspirant, Senator Babajide Omoworare, demonstrating a move toward consensus within the party.

The other aspirants stepped down, sacrificing their personal ambitions for the interest of the party. The motion for affirmation was subsequently put to a voice vote by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and unanimously endorsed.
Oyebamiji previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Osun State during the administrations of former Governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola.
