The newly appointed Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, officially assumed office on Monday, 15 December, 2025.

The management and staff of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), as well as other stakeholders from the education sector, gathered to welcome Dr Ogunmuyiwa to his new office.

The atmosphere was filled with dancing, praising and rejoicing as everyone thanked the Almighty God for the opportunity given to him to steer the ship of the Agency to greater heights. The short programme held in honour of his first day in office was marked by thanksgiving, praises to God and prayers for a successful tenure and the wisdom of God upon his life.

Goodwill messages were received from all six Education Districts, delivered by the Coordinating Directors and Heads of Departments of OEQA, who spoke highly of Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s capabilities and expressed their confidence in his leadership.

Prayers were offered in both Muslim and Christian traditions, seeking God’s guidance and blessings on Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s tenure.

Many people spoke highly of him, believing that he would take the Office of Education Quality Assurance to a higher level, in line with the Governor’s vision and the state government’s THEME Plus Agenda.

In his remarks, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa expressed his gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for the confidence reposed in him. He also thanked the state Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro; the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite; for their support and leadership.

“I am truly humbled by the expectations and encouragement from colleagues, friends, associates and well-wishers across the state and beyond. The show of confidence is both inspiring and sobering.”

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa also appreciated his family, friends, and well-wishers for their love and support, and assured them of his commitment to strengthening quality assurance and improving learning outcomes across all levels of the basic and secondary education system in Lagos State.

“By the grace of God, I am fully committed to putting my thinking cap on, hitting the ground running, and giving my very best in service to Lagos State, with a focus on strengthening quality assurance and improving learning outcomes across all levels of our basic and secondary education system,” Ogunmuyiwa says.

The event was attended by his beloved mother, Alhaja Ramota Ogunmuyiwa; his darling wife, Mrs. Kudirat Ogunmuyiwa and other family members, the six Coordinating Directors, Heads of Departments, stakeholders from the education sector, evaluators from OEQA and staff of OEQA.
