Tomofe Nwabueze has been announced as the new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, reports thegazellenews.com.
Nwabueze replaces the former DPO, Nelson Igbinoba.

The state Police Commissioner, Monday Agbonika who announced this through a statement issued on Tuesday, 13 January, 2026, said Nwabueze’s appointment takes immediate effect.
Agbonika gave the order for the reorganisation of the Ekpoma Division, following last weekend’s violent protest by youths and students of the University community over incessant kidnappings and killings.

The Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the development through a statement issued on the morning of Tuesday, 13 January, 2026 to newsmen in Benin City, the state capital.
“The Edo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that as part of ongoing security assessment and strategic repositioning in Ekpoma, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, has ordered the reorganisation of the Ekpoma Division, and approved the posting of CSP Tomofe Nwabueze to assume office as the new DPO with immediate effect,” Ikoedem said in the statement.
