First to die was the Aro of Erin Osun, Chief Adeyemi Adegoke.
According to thegazellenews.com’s finding, he had been sick for sometime with the wife, Janet Adegoke, being his chief carer.
He eventually died early Thursday, 8 January, 2026, with death linked to complications from his ailment. Reports also indicated that his wife was with him till he breathed his last.
While arrangement was being made to take his corpse to the mortuary, the wife excused herself, and went to her room to change her clothes.
When she did not emerge from her room when expected, one of the relatives went in to check on her.
She found Mrs Adegoke slumped on the ground. The alarm she raised took other family members by surprise and they all rushed into the room.
Concerted efforts were made to revive her to no avail. She had joined her husband to also answer the final call.
The burial of the couple has been scheduled for January 16 in their hometown of Erin Osun where the husband was a prominent Chief .
