Following the death of popular young Fuji musician, Adesina Afeez (22), widely known as “Destiny Boy” operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one suspect over the matter.
Destiny Boy, reportedly died on Sunday, 18 January, 2026, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, at the age of 22.

While the exact cause of his death has not yet been officially confirmed by family or authorities, multiple reports and eyewitness accounts suggest he had been battling health issues and severe symptoms shortly before his passing, including reportedly vomiting blood.
Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed the development through a statement issued on Monday, 19 January, 2026 said the Command announced it has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the artist’s death.
“The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing,” Babaseyi stated this in the statement.
According to the state police image-maker, the suspect has been transferred to the SCID’s Homicide Section as authorities work to determine the cause of death.
Videos circulated on social media showed his lifeless body being transported, fuelling public shock and speculation about what actually happened.
There are also a mix of unverified theories circulating online, from assertions by a family member that he may have been poisoned, to social-media claims involving a herbalist, but none of these has been substantiated by police or medical reports as of now.
Destiny Boy rose to fame as a young Afrofuji artist, gaining attention for his creative covers and original tracks that blended traditional Fuji music with contemporary sounds.
