The General Manager of Lagos State University Radio (LASURA), Tpl. ESV Ali Saheed Animashaun, will chair the Pre-Ramadan Lecture organised by the Lagos State University Muslim Alumni (LASUMA), while the Chief Registrar of the Lagos State High Court, Alhaji Tajudeen Elias, is set to deliver the keynote address.

The lecture, themed “Ramadan: A Journey of Spiritual Transformation,” will hold on Sunday, 8 February,
2026, 11 a.m. prompt at the Aderemi Makanjuola Auditorium, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos.
The programme forms part of LASUMA’s annual initiative to spiritually prepare Muslims for the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the organisers, the event is designed to provide a platform for reflection on faith, discipline and moral responsibility, while also fostering unity among Muslims within and beyond the university community.
In his keynote address, Alhaji Elias is expected to examine the relevance of spiritual discipline and ethical conduct in public service, particularly as Ramadan approaches.
The organisers said his address would highlight the intersection between Islamic values, leadership and accountability.
Traditional institutions will be well represented, with HRM Oba Dr. Ibrahim Olusunkami Lawal, Oba Isheri Olofin of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, and HRM Oba Galib Adeniyi Rufai, Olojo of Ojo Kingdom, expected to grace the occasion.
Similarly, prominent Islamic scholars will feature prominently at the lecture. They include Prof. AbdulKudus O. Amuni, Chief Imam of LASU, and Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, who will serve as spiritual fathers.
The Guest Lecturer, Sheikh Dr. Ridwan Jamiu, Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, will deliver the main lecture.
Explaining the significance of the theme, the organisers described Ramadan as “a period of total spiritual rebirth,” noting that the lecture would focus on personal transformation, social harmony and renewed commitment to God.

In addition, the event will recognise distinguished personalities for their contributions to education, governance and community development. Among the special guests of honour are Prof. Balikis Lafiaji-Okuneye, Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), and Alhaji Said B. Olayinka, FCA, the University Bursar of LASU.
Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi I. Olatunji-Bello, mni, will serve as the Grand Host, while Prof. Rahman B. Yusuf, Chairman of the LASU Muslim Community, will act as the Chief Host.
Speaking on the objective of the programme, the President of LASUMA, Dr. Abdul-Azeez A. Anjorin, said the Pre-Ramadan Lecture is aimed at strengthening faith and promoting moral consciousness among Muslims.
“This lecture is part of our continuous effort to prepare our members spiritually for Ramadan while encouraging them to contribute positively to society,” Anjorin said.
The organising committee is chaired by Alhaji Agboluaje Lateef Kayode, with Mr. Olawuyi Zikirullah serving as Secretary. Donations in support of the programme are to be made through LASUMA’s Islamic banking account with IBTC Bank.
The organisers added that the lecture is open to the public and urged residents to attend, describing it as an opportunity for spiritual reflection, learning and communal engagement ahead of Ramadan.
