The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Tuesday, 10 February, 2026, commended the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, for the commissioning of a newly constructed block of classrooms at United Native Africa (UNA) Primary School, Igbalu, in Imota LCDA.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Benson described the project as a significant investment in the future of the Igbalu community, noting that quality infrastructure remains a key driver of improved learning outcomes for pupils at the grassroots. He expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru for prioritizing education and responding to the needs of the people.
The Council Chairman said the new classroom block would help decongest existing facilities in the school and create a more conducive learning environment for both pupils and teachers. According to him, such interventions are critical to raising educational standards and promoting academic excellence among young learners.
Hon. Benson further noted that Senator Abiru’s consistent efforts in delivering impactful projects across the Lagos East Senatorial District have continued to strengthen public confidence in responsive and people-centred leadership. He added that the Senator Abiru’s commitment to education aligns with the development priorities of the council.
He assured residents that the council would continue to partner with well-meaning leaders and stakeholders to attract more developmental projects to Imota LCDA. He emphasized that education remains a top priority of his administration under the “Hi-SEE” transformation agenda, as it is essential to building a knowledgeable and productive society.
In his remarks, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, noted that the construction of the classroom block was part of his ongoing constituency projects aimed at improving educational infrastructure across the Lagos East Senatorial District. He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance teaching and learning conditions in public schools.
Senator Abiru urged pupils to make good use of the new facilities by focusing on their studies and maintaining discipline, while also encouraging teachers to remain dedicated to their duties. He assured residents of Imota LCDA of more people-oriented projects in the coming months.
Also speaking, the Education Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority, Mr. Taiwo Odumbo commended Senator Abiru for the intervention, describing the project as timely and impactful. The Education Secretary noted that the new classrooms would significantly improve the learning environment for pupils and ease pressure on existing facilities, while urging teachers and pupils to make proper use of the infrastructure.
