Immediate past Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Hon. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Agege Federal Constituency.
Egunjobi made the declaration on Friday, 3 April, 2026, in Agege, Lagos, at an event attended by party leaders, representatives of ethnic groups, artisans, and traders’ associations.

Speaking at the gathering, he said he had carried out extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the constituency, including political appointees and former office holders.
He also announced a donation of N1.5 million to each of the 13 wards in Agege Federal Constituency to support mobilisation and other political activities.

According to him, the consultations, which spanned political actors dating back to 1992, had yielded widespread support for his aspiration.
“We have carried out series of consultations and formally announced our intention to run. Stakeholders have endorsed our aspiration and expressed confidence in our track record as local government chairman.
“We are declaring today to formally notify the public of our ambition. The turnout here reflects the level of acceptance. I am offering myself for election to represent Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,” he said.
On the party’s adoption of the direct primary method, Egunjobi commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the decision, noting that it would give members of the party direct involvement in decision-making which in turn gives them a sense of responsibility.
In his remarks, an aspirant for Agege State Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Remi Bello, urged residents to continue supporting the APC and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
