A retired teacher in Lagos State, Mrs. Ogbeide Agnes Modupeola, has slumped and died under circumstances yet to be fully disclosed, prompting an urgent search for her family.

The incident, announced by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kosofe Branch, occurred recently, with the union stating that the deceased was later confirmed dead after collapsing, while her remains have since been deposited in a morgue as efforts intensify to locate her relatives.
In a statement issued by its Executive Council, the union said Modupeola, who previously taught at Ojota Junior Secondary School and Angus Memorial High School, was identified through documents found in her handbag.

However, despite the identification, no family members have been traced as of the time of the announcement, a development that has raised concern among colleagues and the union.
“We regret to announce the sudden demise of Mrs. Ogbeide Agnes Modupeola, a retired teacher… She reportedly slumped and was later confirmed dead,” the statement read.
Consequently, the union appealed to the public for assistance in locating her family, noting that all efforts made so far had proved unsuccessful.
“Identification was made through documents found in her handbag, but no family member has been traced yet. Kindly help share this information to locate her relatives,” the statement added.
The NUT described the late Modupeola as a dedicated educator who made significant contributions to the development of students during her years of service in Lagos State public schools.
The union, while expressing condolences over her death, reiterated the need for public cooperation to ensure that her family is informed and necessary arrangements are made.
