Former Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi, has announced his retirement from professional football as he sets his sights on a political career, with plans to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, reports thegazellenews.com

Thegazellenews.com recalled that Shehu Abdullahi was a member of the Super Eagles to the World Cup in 2018 in Russia, the last time Nigeria qualified for the global competition.
The 33-year-old ex-Kano Pillars player is reportedly preparing to run for the Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a report by Leadership.

The move marks a transition from a career in football, where he featured at both youth and senior international levels, to public service.
Abdullahi, who built a reputation as a dependable defender during his playing days, is said to be motivated by a desire to serve his people and contribute to the development of his constituency.
“The 33-year-old, who enjoyed a career spanning youth and senior international levels, is reportedly preparing to contest for the Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress,” the report stated.
His decision to venture into politics reflects a growing trend of athletes leveraging their influence and experience to engage in governance and community development.
