Former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima is dead, reports thegazellenews.com

He died this afternoon, Saturday, 18 April, 2026, in Kano after a protracted illness.

Thegazellenews.com reports that the astute sports administrator died at the age of 78.

Late Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima was an astute Nigerian sports administrator and former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) , now called Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

He was the Chairman of the Association, NFA, until 2005. He was removed after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

He is a former Kano State Commissioner of Sports and also Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission.

He is the Chairman of the Kano sub-seat during the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship hosted by Nigeria.

In 2010, he was nominated by the NFA to replace Dr. Amos Adamu, as Nigeria’s representative on the CAF Executive Committe

He headed a reformatory committee set up by former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung to reform football administration in Nigeria, advocating self-sustaining football with quality sponsorship rather than sole dependence on government and pushing for rules that respect both FIFA statutes and Nigeria’s laws.

He is described as “intelligent, humble, honest and hardworking” with relevant football experience.
