The King of Odomola Kingdom in Epe Division, Lagos State, Oba Adeshina Sulaimon Adebowale, Ariran Akenre II, has passed away, just days after celebrating the annual Kilajolu Festival with his people.

The monarch reportedly died after participating in the cultural celebration held last Sunday, 10 May, 2026 in Odomola, where he joined community members, friends and well-wishers for the traditional festival.
The development has since thrown the ancient kingdom into mourning, with further details surrounding his death yet to be officially disclosed.

Odomola, located under Eredo Local Council Development Area, is a historic kingdom in Lagos State, headed by the traditional ruler known as the Omola of Odomola Kingdom.
Oba Adebowale, a key custodian of tradition in the area, was the most recently installed monarch of the kingdom.
He received his Instrument of Office in May 2023 from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Local Government Council Chambers, Ita-Marun, Epe, during the installation of traditional rulers for Odo-Egiri, Odomola and Agbowa communities.
During his reign, Oba Adebowale was actively involved in promoting cultural heritage, including the annual Kilajolu Festival, which he consistently celebrated with indigenes, community members, friends and well-wishers in Odomola.
He was widely regarded as a monarch committed to unity, tradition and cultural preservation within the kingdom until his sudden passing.
