The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has commended the Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, for his administration’s performance in road infrastructure and public school rehabilitation, while urging him to deepen investments in human capital development.

The commendation came on Friday, July 3, 2026, during the committee’s scheduled oversight visit to the council, where members assessed ongoing projects and programmes as part of the Lagos State House of Assembly’s constitutional oversight of local government administration.

Addressing the council’s leadership after inspecting key projects, the lawmakers praised the Chairman for the progress recorded in infrastructure delivery, particularly the construction of roads and rehabilitation of schools.

The committee members led by the Chairman, Honourable Sanni Okanlawon, rated Akinsanya high in the areas of road infrastructure and education particularly his school rehabilitation projects.

“You have really done well Mr Chairman. We are particularly impressed with your road infrastructure and education projects particularly in the area of school rehabilitation.

“However, we will always say the result for hard work is more work, there are always room for improvements in everything we do.

“The Chairman should see to provision of streetlights for the roads while we also advise that he improves in human capital development through vocational and ICT training,” the committee members said.

According to the committee, strengthening ICT education and vocational training would create employment opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship and improve the socio-economic well-being of residents.

The inspection visit formed part of the Assembly’s routine assessment of projects and programmes across local governments and Local Council Development Areas to ensure accountability, improve service delivery and promote sustainable grassroots development.

Members of the committee present during the visit were: Honourables: Rasheed Adebola Shabi, Abiodun Moshood Aro, Olusegun Ege, Surajudeen Tijani, Jubreel Abdul Kareem, Ajayi Oladele, Stephen Ogundipe and host lawmaker, Kehinde Joseph among others.
