The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Onoriode Joshua (Onos) Oborevwori, has expressed delight over the choice of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, as the venue for the grand finale of the 2026 President Federation Cup, describing it as another major endorsement of Delta State’s growing status as the home of sports in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) recently confirmed that the prestigious men’s and women’s finals will be held on Saturday, 11 July, 2026, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Reacting to the announcement, Hon. Oborevwori said the state was fully prepared to host football stakeholders, supporters, and visitors from across the country for what promises to be a memorable spectacle.

According to him, the selection of Asaba is a clear reflection of the confidence the NFF has in Delta State’s sporting infrastructure, organizational capacity, and commitment to the development of sports.

He particularly applauded the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering support for sports and his administration’s continued investment in facilities and programmes that have positioned the state as Nigeria’s preferred destination for major sporting events.

“We are excited that Delta State has once again been entrusted with hosting one of the biggest football events in the country. This recognition did not happen by chance. It is the result of the remarkable commitment of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose sports-friendly policies and sustained investment have continued to elevate Delta State as the nation’s sporting capital.

“On behalf of the Delta State Sports Commission, I sincerely appreciate our Governor for creating an enabling environment for sports to flourish. We are ready to deliver an excellent and memorable President Federation Cup final that will make Delta and Nigeria proud.”

The Sports Commission Chairman, assured the Nigeria Football Federation, participating teams, match officials, sponsors, and football enthusiasts of adequate preparations to ensure a seamless and successful tournament finale.

The men’s final will feature Ikorodu City against three-time champions El-Kanemi Warriors, while the finalists in the women’s category will emerge from the semi-finalists: FC Robo Queens, Heartland Queens, Sunshine Queens, and Nasarawa Amazons.

He also called on Deltans and football fans across the country to troop to the Stephen Keshi Stadium to witness the country’s oldest and most prestigious domestic football competition.

The President Federation Cup remains Nigeria’s premier knockout football tournament and continues to produce some of the nation’s most memorable football moments.
