The Igbo Community, Bauchi State (ICB) has elected new executive officers to pilot its affairs for the next three years.
In a peaceful and hitch free election conducted at Larema Hotel and suites, Bauchi on Sunday, 26 July, 2026, Chief Ignatius Ifemenem emerged as the President-General of all Igbo- speaking towns and communities residing in the state.
For the second time, the President- General emerged unopposed at the election for another three year tenure while Dr Okolo Christopher Chuks defeated Elder Emma Ogbonna by 54 votes to 42 to emerge as the Vice President – General for the second time also.
Other executive members who emerged unopposed include: Nobel Jude Elekwanya, Igwe Calistus, Samuel Okah and Solomon Ushi who were elected General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Provost, respectively.
Also elected through consensus are Patrick Onuorah, Financial Secretary; Sunday Nneli, Assistant Financial Secretary; Emmanuel Nnadozie, Chief Public Relations Officer;
Ndubueze Agu, Assistant PRO; and Anselem Osi, Provost II.
Others are: Onwuha Okechukwu, Internal Auditor; Monday Amaliku Mike, Assistant Internal Auditor; Jude Ekegbuchie, Welfare Officer l; and Okoro K, Welfare Officer ll.
In his acceptance speech, the re-elected President-General, Chief Ignatius Ifemenem reiterated his commitment towards ensuring
peaceful co-existence, harmonious relationship and love among the Igbo Community as well as with the host community in the state.
The President urged members to continue to promote the bond of unity among themselves as well as with the host community, for the overall socio – economic, commercial and political development of our people , our community and the Bauchi State in general.”
He implored all contestants, in the interest of the Igbo Community in Bauchi State, to rally around his administration, “as we forge a united front to chart a new chapter that would take our community to the next level “.
