Popular Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna is dead, reports thegazellenews.com

Thegazellenews.com reports further that the family of the deceased cleric announced his passing on Tuesday, 28 July, 2026.

Sheikh Asukuna was the founder and spiritual leader of the popular Lagos based Islamic society, Hizbullah International Outreach Ministry.

“With a deep sense of loss and total submission to the will of Allah, the family and the entire members of Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry announce the passing of their beloved Grand Amir, Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna.

“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, have mercy on his soul, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Amin,” the statement from the family said.

According to the statement, he is to be buried on Wednesday, 29 July, 2026, at the Muslim Cemetery, Mowe Ofada, in accordance with Islamic rites.

“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.” (Qur’an 2:156), the family said in the statement.
