On Monday, 3 August 2026, the Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, commissioned a 40-bed Primary Health Centre at Oke Lisa as a principal highlight of the first anniversary of his administration.

The modern facility, facilitated by Dr Muiz Banire through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs), comprises separate male and female wards, a paediatric ward, a laboratory, labour theatre, constant water supply, a security post, and a Mikano power generating set to ensure uninterrupted electricity, with plans for 24-hour operations.

Designed for round-the-clock operations, the centre will provide comprehensive services including maternal and child healthcare, routine immunisation, family planning, health education, free medical outreaches and enrolment under the ILERA EKO health insurance scheme.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Akinwunmi Ibrahim Mustapha, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, described the centre as a significant milestone in the State’s efforts to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery. He urged residents to take ownership of the facility, ensure its protection and make full use of the services available.

In his remarks, Hon. Benson expressed gratitude to Dr Banire, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the THEMES+ Agenda, and the Baale of Oke Lisa, Chief Rasaq Onanuga, who donated the land for the project. He announced that a perimeter fence would be constructed before the end of the year to enhance security. He further disclosed that Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, had pledged to facilitate the construction of a 4-kilometre road linking Igbokuta Junction to Igbalu.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to healthcare under the HI-SEE Transformation Agenda and called on residents to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Primary Health Care Board, local government leaders, traditional rulers, party stakeholders and community residents.

The commissioning of the 40-bed Primary Health Centre constitutes one of the landmark achievements marking the first anniversary of Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele’s administration. It underscores his sustained commitment to improving healthcare delivery, expanding access to quality medical services and enhancing the overall well-being of the people of Imota Local Council Development Area through purposeful and people-oriented governance.
