Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of 19 Permanent Secretaries to fill existing vacancies in the State Civil Service and strengthen administrative capacity for effective and efficient service delivery.

The state Head of the Civil Service, Professor Mu’azu Shehu, who conveyed the Governor’s approval on Monday, 10 August, 2026, said the appointments became necessary following the dearth of Permanent Secretaries in the service, as well as the recent creation and restructuring of ministries by the state government.

He explained that filling the vacancies would ensure that the affected ministries have competent administrative leadership and are adequately positioned to effectively discharge their mandates.

Professor Shehu said the officers selected for the appointments were drawn from 11 Local Government Areas, with due consideration given to geographical spread, professional experience, competence and the specific requirements of the various ministries.

He emphasised that the appointments were based on the suitability, competence and proven records of the officers, noting that the recommended candidates had consistently demonstrated satisfactory performance throughout their careers and maintained clean service records.

According to him, the officers were

carefully assessed and found suitable to occupy the positions, having acquired relevant experience and demonstrated commitment, professionalism and capacity in their respective areas of service.

He added that their satisfactory performance ratings and clean service records provided a strong basis for their elevation to the Permanent Secretary cadre.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
