The Social Democratic Party candidate for Ife Federal Constituency, Akintola N.A., has called on all stakeholders in Osun State to ensure a peaceful, free, fair and credible electoral process ahead of this weekend’s governorship election.

In a press release issued as residents prepare to go to the polls, Akintola urged political parties, candidates, security agencies, INEC officials, civil society groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders and voters to reject violence, intimidation, vote buying and any act capable of undermining the peace of the state, describing elections as the foundation of democracy.

He said the conduct of the election presented another opportunity for Osun State to demonstrate maturity, unity and commitment to democratic values.

Akintola, who urged voters to come out peacefully and exercise their civic right, shunning violence before, during and after the election, also called on political parties and candidates to play by the rules, accept the outcome and put the interest of Osun residents above personal ambition.

He urged security agencies to remain neutral and professional in protecting lives and property, and called on INEC to maintain transparency and uphold the integrity of the processurged traditional, religious and community leaders to continue preaching peace and unity within their domains.

Akintola noted that Osun State had a proud history of peaceful coexistence, expressing hope that the election would further strengthen that legacy, and stressed that the ballot remained stronger than any weapon, with the collective will of the people deserving respect.

He prayed for a hitch-free election and a new chapter of progress for the people of Osun State.
