The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The FCT Administration announced the directive on Wednesday, 12 August, 2026 in a statement issued by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, explaining that the secretariat had remained operational after the committee completed its assignment to attend to issues arising from its activities.

Wike also approved the creation of a dedicated division in the Department of Land Administration to take over all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The newly created division will assume the responsibilities previously handled by the defunct Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses.

The FCT Administration said the formal closure of the secretariat was necessary following the completion of the committee’s assignment.

It subsequently directed members of the public to henceforth channel all enquiries and matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT to the Department of Land Administration.

The administration also warned residents against falling victim to fraudsters who may continue to operate under the identity of the dissolved committee or its former secretariat.

It urged members of the public to be wary of individuals parading themselves as staff, officers or members of the defunct committee, stressing that neither the committee nor its secretariat exists any longer. The development effectively transfers the administration of matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses from the dissolved ad-hoc structure to a permanent division within the Department of Land Administration
