The Federal Government has revoked housing land allocations at Dukpa, Gwagwalada, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and opened a three-week verification window for genuine allottees to authenticate their claims ahead of relocation to an alternative site.

The verification exercise will commence on Monday, 7 September, 2026, and run for three weeks on working days at the office of the Presidential Technical Committee on Land Reform (PTCLR), Garki 2, and the Department of Lands and Housing Development at the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja.

The ministry, in a statement by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, urged affected allottees to take advantage of the exercise to regularise their status, warning that no extension would be granted after the stipulated period.

Haiba said affected allottees must present relevant documents and proof of allocation, including the original and photocopies of their Letters of Allocation, payment receipts, valid means of identification, a sworn affidavit supporting their claims of ownership and passport photographs.

He warned that any plot or allottee not verified within the three-week period would be excluded from the relocation exercise.

The affected residential and service plots were originally allocated in 1992 by the then Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for private development.

However, the Federal Government subsequently revoked the allocations and all interests in the area following what the ministry described as overriding public interest in connection with the National Housing Programme (NHP).

The ministry said the revocation was carried out pursuant to Section 28(2)(b) of the Land Use Act, Cap 202, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, as amended.

Following the revocation, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development concluded arrangements to relocate all genuine allottees to an alternative site secured within Gwagwalada.

The latest verification exercise is intended to authenticate the claims of affected allottees and determine those eligible for relocation before the process begins.

The ministry reiterated that the exercise would be conducted strictly within the three-week period beginning September 7, 2026, and advised affected members of the public to ensure that their documentation was complete and submitted within the stipulated timeframe.

It stressed that failure to complete the verification process within the window would result in the affected plot or allottee being excluded from relocation to the alternative site.
