The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed Saturday, 22 August, 2026 for primary elections to pick candidates for restored state constituencies and forthcoming legislative bye-elections across six states.

The party announced the schedule in a timetable signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, disclosing that the exercise covers four restored state House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi, as well as legislative vacancies in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano.

According to the party, the timetable followed INEC’s restoration of four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi after court judgments.

The APC disclosed that in Delta, the restored constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is in Kogi State, noting that the constituencies had been suppressed for years, leaving affected communities without direct representation in their state assemblies.

For the bye-elections, the party listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi, Udu State Constituency in Delta, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano, explaining that the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.

According to the timetable, sale of expression of interest and nomination forms began on Tuesday, 18 August, 2026, and would close on Thursday, 20 August, 2026, with completed forms and supporting documents due the same date.

Screening of aspirants, publication of results and hearing of screening appeals would hold on Friday, 21 August, 2026, while primaries would follow on Saturday, 22 August, 2026 with election appeals scheduled for Monday, 24 August, 2026.

On fees, the party disclosed that House of Assembly aspirants would pay N1 million for the expression of interest form and N5 million for the nomination form, totalling N6 million while House of Representatives aspirants would pay N1 million and N9 million respectively, amounting to N10 million.

The APC added that female aspirants, youths and persons with disabilities would pay the expression of interest fee alongside 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fee, and directed all aspirants to make payments directly into the party’s designated bank account.
