Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has joined family, friends and well-wishers to honour the Leader of Afenifere and Asiwaju Yoruba, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, as he celebrated his 100th birthday.
Hamzat disclosed this in a statement shared on his social media page, describing the centenary lecture, themed “A Century of Courage and Stewardship of Yorùbá Democratic Legacy,” as a fitting tribute to a life defined by service and commitment to the Yoruba people.
“Today, I joined family, friends and well-wishers to honour Chief Reuben Fasoranti, CFR, Leader of Afenifere and Asiwaju Yoruba, as he celebrated his 100th birthday. The centenary lecture, with the theme A Century of Courage and Stewardship of Yorùbá Democratic Legacy, was a fitting tribute to a life defined by service and commitment to our people,” he said.
The Deputy Governor described reaching 100 years as a blessing, stressing that dedicating a lifetime to principled leadership and the democratic values of the Yoruba people remained a legacy worth upholding by all.
“Reaching 100 years is a blessing, but dedicating a lifetime to principled leadership and the democratic values of the Yoruba people is a legacy we must all strive to uphold,” he stated.
Hamzat thereafter celebrated Chief Fasoranti and wished him many more years in good health and peace.
