A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 25 August, 2026, in Akiode Ibogun, Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of a shepherd and his wife.

According to the source, at approximately 3am Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya, Shepherd-in-Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Iri Orun Parish, was allegedly involved in a violent altercation with his wife, Adenike Odukoya.

The source said Mrs. Odukoya sustained severe head injuries during the dispute and lost consciousness. Upon realizing his wife was unresponsive, the evangelist reportedly left the scene.

The couple’s son raised the alarm with neighbors, and members of the local Community Development Association (CDA) responded to attempt emergency rescue efforts.

According to the source, Mrs. Odukoya did not survive her injuries.

By around 6am, reports reached the community that a body had been found along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, in the Iyana Coker area of Ifo.

CDA officials went to the location and confirmed the deceased was Evangelist Odukoya.

The source said he died after being struck by an oncoming vehicle on the highway.

The Nigeria Police Force has since become involved and commenced standard procedures.

Mrs. Odukoya was laid to rest at their residence at approximately 2:00 pm the same day.

Her husband’s family is reportedly working with authorities to secure the release of his remains for burial.
