Following the death of Mr. Unity Adedah, a deputy director in the state Ministry of Secondary Education, the Delta State chapter of the Nigeria of Labour Congress, (NLC) on Friday, 25 September, 2026 declared an indefinite strike in the state, reports thegazellenews.com.
The deceased civil servant reportedly died after he was tied up and beaten mercilessly by thugs allegedly on the orders of the state Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu.
The State NLC chairman, Goodluck Oforbruku, declared the strike on Friday, 25 September, 2026 while addressing protesting civil servants at the Chike Edozien secretariat in Asaba.
It was gathered that workers at the State Secretariat in Asaba had earlier shut down the complex after the death of Adedah.
