The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised the alarm over a fake website claiming that a nationwide online voter registration exercise is currently ongoing, warning Nigerians against submitting their personal information on the platform.

The commission issued the warning in a public notice on Saturday, 26 September, 2026, after the website,

pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com, falsely announced a nationwide registration window running from September 28 to October 27.

INEC said the website had no affiliation with the commission and urged Nigerians not to click on the link or provide any personal information through the platform.

The commission warned that submitting personal details on the website could expose users to the risk of having their sensitive data harvested or misused.

“Members of the public are strongly advised not to click on the link or submit any personal information on the website, as doing so may expose them to the risk of having their sensitive personal data harvested or misused,” INEC said in the notice posted on X.

The commission clarified that the voter registration exercise closed on July 26, 2026, stressing that any information suggesting that a fresh nationwide online registration exercise was ongoing through the website was false.

INEC said, “The Commission further wishes to clarify that the voter registration exercise closed on 26th July 2026.”

The fake website reportedly claims to offer what it describes as the “Final Phase of Nationwide Online Voter Card Registration”, with services including updating voter registration details, transferring registration to another polling unit and replacing damaged or lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The platform also claims that voter registration and PVC delivery are free.

However, INEC urged Nigerians to disregard the claims and verify electoral information through its official communication channels.

The commission also advised members of the public to remain vigilant when accessing online platforms relating to voter registration and other electoral services to avoid exposing their personal information to fraudulent operators.
