Supporters, All Progressives Congress (APC) members and well-wishers lined the streets around Marina and Isale Eko on Lagos Island as President Bola Tinubu’s motorcade approached Iga Idunganran Palace, where he paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
The visit took place on Sunday, 4 October, 2026. It gave the President an opportunity to receive royal prayers and counsel from the traditional ruler for his administration.
The gathering created a festive atmosphere, with residents cheering the President and expressing enthusiasm over his presence on Lagos Island.
Residents also gathered along major routes to catch a glimpse of his motorcade, and his presence drew significant public attention.
At the palace, members of the royal household and enthusiastic residents received him.
Tinubu was accompanied by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. APC stalwarts, political associates and other dignitaries also joined him during the visit.
Inside the palace, the Oba offered prayers for Tinubu, his administration and the nation, seeking divine guidance and continued peace and prosperity.

He also counselled the President on matters concerning the country and the wellbeing of Nigerians.
The meeting underscored the traditional institution’s role in maintaining dialogue with the Federal Government and supporting national development.
It also strengthened the longstanding relationship between the presidency and traditional institutions in Lagos.
The Oba of Lagos, as a prominent traditional authority, remains an influential voice on issues affecting Lagos State and the country.
The visit formed part of Tinubu’s engagements with prominent Nigerians, traditional rulers and other stakeholders since his return to Lagos from his working vacation.
The President has continued meetings with important personalities and stakeholders across different sectors, and the engagements have given him opportunities to interact with influential figures and exchange views on national and state-level developments.
The visit ended with Tinubu departing the palace after the traditional ruler’s prayers and goodwill for him and the country.
