It sounds strange but true, the Pastor and General Overseer of a church in Ogun State has been arrested by the police for kidnapping, reports The Gazelle News.com.
When interrogated by the police, the Pastor not only confessed to the crime but also admitted that he went into kidnapping to raise money for the expansion of his church and do charity works.
Pastor Adetokumbo Adenopo, General Overseer of New Life Ministry, Lukosi, Sagamu, was arrested by police operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) for kidnapping Jonathan Ekpo from Benue State.
The Pastor was arrested alongside with three members of his gang: Chigozie Williams 22years, native of Umuahia North, Abia State; Ugoji Linus 30years, native of Ezinifite in Imo State; and Emmanuel Chris Ani, 27years, native of Aniri in Enugu State.
Their victim, an employee of a logistic company was kidnapped on Friday, 17 July, 2020 while on official duty to deliver goods in Shagamu, Ogun State. The victim was kept in an underground cabin inside the Pastor’s church building in Ogijo town, Ogun State by his abductors who demanded the payment of N20 million ransom as condition for his release. He was subsequently rescued unhurt nine days after and reunited with his family by the Police.
