An appeal has gone to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu to give protection to people living in the state as the state has become an unsafe environment since the violence that greeted the #EndSARS protest two weeks ago across the state.
It will be recalled that the #EndSARS protest turned violent when hoodlums hijacked it, descended on police men and officers which led to death as well as burning of police stations. Since then, police personnel have deserted the streets of Lagos which gave rise to several cases of violent attacks in some areas in Lagos such as: Ketu, Mile 12 and environs, Egbeda, and Agege among others.
The appeal for restoration of security back in Lagos was given on Tuesday, 10 November, 2020 in Lagos by the Executive Director, Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV), Comrade Gbenga Soloki in a press release he signed where he stressed the need for adequate security in the state
According to the release, “let us use this opportunity to appeal to His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu and the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr Hakeem Odumosu to promptly restore security in the state. Since the breakdown of law and order owing to the #EndSARS protests hijacked by hoodlums and the attendant destruction and killings that followed, police men and officers having suffered attacks equally withdrew their services from the roads. This is a dangerous trend.
“While commiserating with the police authorities on the death of men and officers as well as destruction of their stations, the spate of violence across the state is sad and unacceptable, hence the need to make this appeal”.
