The Comptroller- General, Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has ordered that all illegal check points be dismantled and only check points of 10km from the approved border towns must be operational.
The order is in line with observations raised by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) on the proliferation of security checkpoints and roadblocks on the highways across the country which has been identified as one of the reasons for loss of manhours, increased in prices of consumer goods and services.
While some are legal, Babandede said most are not, hence the need to curtail their activities.
He also expressed support for President Buhari’s anti-corruption agenda and therefore enjoined all officers to be professional in the discharge of their duties.
