The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on the African Democratic Congress, accusing the opposition party of being responsible for its internal crisis and describing it as “an assembly of confused and desperate politicians.”

The APC, in a press statement issued on Thursday, 2 April, 2026 in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Morka said the ADC’s current turmoil stemmed from its own actions, particularly what it described as unconstitutional leadership imposition and disregard for due process.

Reacting to allegations by the ADC that the ruling party was undermining it, the APC dismissed such claims as baseless conspiracy theories, insisting that the opposition party was merely deflecting blame.
“The ADC has distinguished itself as a peddler of rabid conspiracy theories about what the APC is or is not doing to undermine the party,” Morka said.
Furthermore, the ruling party described the ADC as fundamentally flawed, arguing that its internal structure made it prone to collapse.
“The ADC is a party that never was. By design, it was a kamikaze contraption with a ‘follow-come’ self-destructive detonator,” he said, adding that the party’s ongoing disintegration was inevitable.
The APC also criticised the emergence of a factional leadership within the ADC led by former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, alleging that their entry into the party violated its constitutional provisions.
“When its factional leadership under the duo of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola parachuted into the party like thoughtless and planless commandos and hijacked the party in violent violation of its constitutional stipulations regarding leadership succession, the ADC set its own date with destiny,” the statement read.
Consequently, the APC defended the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to de-recognise the Mark-led faction, stating that the action was grounded in law and judicial pronouncement.
According to Morka, “INEC’s decision to de-recognize the factional David Mark-led executives in compliance with judgment of court is valid in law, justified in fact, and consistent with electoral policy and democratic practice.”
He argued that it was “escapist and irresponsible” for the ADC to blame external forces for what he termed a self-inflicted crisis, maintaining that the party had failed to manage its internal affairs.
“The ADC’s unwillingness to take responsibility for its miserable failure to follow due process and order its internal affairs makes it grossly unfit as a platform to be taken seriously by Nigerians,” he said, adding that “a party that cannot fix itself cannot possibly fix Nigeria.”
The APC further accused the opposition party of lacking substance, claiming its primary focus was attacking the ruling party rather than presenting viable alternatives to Nigerians.
“The ADC has absolutely nothing to offer more than its senseless attacks against the APC. Attacking the APC seems to be its cardinal commitment and manifesto,” Morka stated, describing the party as “bereft of ideas and lost in vain desperation for power.”
Reaffirming its position, the APC said it remained focused on governance, noting that the administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our great party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu remain steadfast in delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening democratic institutions for peace, unity and prosperity of all Nigerians,” the statement added.
