The Federal Government has closed more than 13.5 million social media accounts and removed nearly 59 million offensive posts across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and X for violating the Code of Practice. The 2024 Compliance Report submitted by Google, Microsoft, TikTok and others to regulators including NCC, NITDA and NBC revealed the action. NITDA spokesperson, Hajiya Hadiza Umar said the move is aimed at ensuring online safety and enforcing Nigerian laws.
