Sequel to the death of one of its Directors, M A Omoighe due to Covid-19 complications as reported by The Gazelle News.com on Tuesday, the management of Yaba College of Technology has taken further steps to curtail and contain the spread of the deadly virus.
On Tuesday, 26 January, 2021, this medium reported exclusively the death of Omoighe, the institution’s Director of Academy Planning Unit (APU) due to Covid-19. He died in the early hours of Sunday, 24 January, 2021.


At an emergency meeting on Monday, 25 January, 2021, the APU was closed down and all the staff mandated to self isolate and go for Covid-19 test. The school’s Medical Centre was also shut down and its staff ordered to take Covid-19 test.
On Tuesday, 26 January, 2021, the management of the school took further steps on the matter.
At the end of the Emergency Meeting of the Academic Board which took place that day and came out with far reaching decisions.
One of such decisions was to send the students home, hence all students have been ordered to vacate the hostels latest Thursday, 28 January, 2021. The school also announced the commencement of online lecture and ordered the lecturers to provide lecture notes to students before explaining during the online lecture.
These decisions and others were contained in the memo released after the Emergency Meeting which was signed by Mrs M O Oladipe, Deputy Registrar, Academic.
Other decisions taken at the meeting were: that the management of the institution will fumigate the school, offices should operate at half capacity, and any staff that displays malaria symptoms should self isolate and go for Covid-19 test among others.
